LET US LEARN NOT MUG

Today, I went to the INTEC Library with my friends.
I found the last 5days newspaper on the table and the front page showing
'Let us learn not mug'.
When I went through the article, it talks about how the studies nowadays have only being examination-oriented.
The article talks about how pressure the students when they have to get great pointer until they do not have time to actually learn and really get to know the lessons.
To think again, this complaint was made logically since we,
the students have to learn and understand the lesson in a very short period.
This kind of situation can really make us more stress out.
All of the students are being 'forced' to get good grade or pointer to ensure that they will get a well-paid job.
It is undeniable that academic assessment is important to know their IQ level. However, assessment is not the only thing that should be considered
in choosing a person.
I think we should make the young generation realized that examination is not the only thing matters in life.
I think, nowadays parents should play their important role in making sure that their teenagers children will not take the examination results as the most important thing in their life.
Teenagers like we all know, having a very difficult personality.
They tend to do things without thinking about it thoroughly.
I think this is already enough for the readers.
Till next time.

TEXTBOOKS ERRORS

In this post, I would like to share with all the readers about an article that I have found in the
New Straits Times website.
This article is about a complain made due to the errors that
were happened to be in the textbook.

I do not think that this kind of errors should happen especially in textbooks
because they are the main reference for the student and teachers.
Although, usually the teachers will make the corrections,
the publishers should not take it for granted because students especially
primary schools' students are easily being influence by the textbooks.
Sometimes, they might think that the textbook is always right.
On top of that,
they usually easy to remember something that is first shown to them.
So, it it very risky to let them have their first textbook spelled wrongly
because they might remember the spelling for their
whole life.

HEAVY SCHOOL BEGS

When I read the newspaper today, I found an article
wrote by a father of a primary school student
about how his son has to bring too many books to the school everyday.

Actually, based on my knowledge,
I know that it is very unhealthy for the students
especially the primary schools' students to bring a very heavy bag on their back.
It can lead to stretching or straining of the muscles
that are being used, direct injury to the spine, and overall fatigue.
This information is actually found in this website.
In my opinion,
the government should take some steps to ensure that our generations will not suffer from the health problems.

Maybe
many of us are not realize how serious this problem could be because there is no proper explanation from the professional comity about this
and the public people could not reach their awareness.
There is an investigation done by the department of occupational therapy at the University of the Free State
compared postural deviation in children who carry heavy school bags against those who don’t and the result was not so supportive.
However, the government already take some steps to solve the problem
such as by providing the students with a locker to keep the textbooks. Nevertheless,
not all the schools are provided with the lockers since the government does not have much budget for that purpose.

SEMESTER BREAK

Lately, people always talk about the semester break that
was decided by most of the universities in Malaysia to be having that in September.

The semester that was usually in May is now on September.
What is your opinion on this news?
Personally, I think that this news is quite dissapointing because when the semester break is on September,
the universities students will be having a 4 months break from their studies.
In my opinion,
4 months is too long for the students to leave all the subjects.

It is undeniable that, in universities there are always new subjects for the new semester. However,
they still need to refresh their previous syllabus because there are some of the subjects basically the same.
If they are having a too long vacation, they
might forget all
about their studies.

Currently. almost all the local universities confirmed to take the the semester break on September.

DIFFERENT MEANING, DIFFERENT SPELLING BUT SAME PRONUNCIATION(HOMOPHONES)

What is actually a homophone????
The word homophone is made from two combining forms:
· Homo-(from the Greek word “homos”, meaning “same”
· -phone (from the Greek word “phone”, meaning “voice” or “sound”

OR

According to The Study of Language, the third edition, by George Yule, homophones are when two or more different (written) forms have the same pronunciation. Besides that, according to Macmillan English Dictionary, homophone is a word that sounds the same as another but has its own spelling, meaning and origin. Homophones are also known as heterographs. Homophones are often used to create puns and to deceive the reader (as in crossword puzzles) or to suggest multiple meanings. The last usage is common in poetry and creative literature. There is another way to recognize whether the words are homophones are not apart from pronouncing them. We can actually recognize them through their phonetic symbols which are the same.
